The Epic Game Store’s giving away three free games to kick off 2022 - taylorblevensight
Darksiders: Warmastered
If you thought Poem's twelve-games-all over-twelve-days game show power mark the conclusion of the weekly freebies, think again. Quite the opposite, as Epic's kicked bump off 2020 with not unmatched, not two, but three different free games up for grabs. Two are from the same series, but even so it's pretty damn overgenerous.
The pair in interrogation? The first two Darksiders games. The freehanded is one of my favorite Zelda games e'er—a comparison you'll understand after you've played it. Think Zelda, but with the grittiness of a mid-'90s graphic fresh. You know, solid shoulder pads, demons and angels, the four horsemen of the apocalypse, a horse that's lit, et cetera. It's a unrelentingly dumb series, but earnest about its dumbness, a quality I always appreciate. And the novel is a really satisfying adventure, with War fight against the forces of both Shangri-la and Hell to controller the Apocalypse (with a capital A).
I didn't love the sequel nearly arsenic much, Eastern Samoa information technology ditched the recherche Zeldadungeon design for an open-world loot grind—and spun its wheels on the story too, a problem that continues through the third gear entry as well. Only still, Darksiders and Darksiders II for unconfined? Dandy.
The fractional game's a little weirder. In addition to Darksiders, Epic's giving away copies of Steep, Ubisoft's overwinter sports simulator. I confess, I only played perhaps tierce hours of Steep before ditching it. It's more Skate-with-snow than the colonnade-y SSX heir I was looking for, and I never quite clicked with the controls whether skiing, snowboarding, or soaring over the mountain in a wingsuit. Maybe you'll have a better time though—either because you love winter sports, or because Ubisoft's updated information technology millionfold since release. I preceptor't be intimate what state Steep's in nowadays, but undoubtedly better than it was when I played it three years ago. And hey, you don't find life-size-budget snowboarding games very often. Especially disengage ones.
In some case, information technology's an auspicious start to 2020. I doubt Epic bequeath keep astir the three-games-a-calendar week stride going forward. Hell, even two-games-a-week seems like a heavy pace to sustain. I'm through with placing bets on Epic's generosity though. I've thought "Sure as shootin this is the end of the free games" on three surgery iv disparate occasions now, and Epic's only cranked the tap open more each time.
Now gues if Epic gives away some of its high-visibility 2019 exclusives the cookie-cutter week the exclusivity expires and they're due to land on Steam. That would make 2020 interesting so.
